Located 24 miles west of Washington, DC, Chantilly straddles the western part of Fairfax County and the southeastern corner of Loudoun County; the Loudoun County portion of Chantilly may be better known as South Riding, a large planned unit development incorporating condominiums, townhouses and detached homes. Chantilly is home to the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, annex of the National Air & Space Museum, and the National Reconnaissance Office, which designs, builds and operates the reconnaissance satellites of the U.S. Government. Chantilly offers a variety of housing options including apartment communities, condos, townhouses and single family homes.
As of November 9, 2009, there were 239 active listings in Chantilly. During the month of October, 2009, there were 45 closed residential sales (down from 53 sales in September), 75 new listings and 57 new pending sales. The average sales price was $333,429 (down from $370,334 in September); the median sales price was $265,000 (down from $360,000 in September); the average number of days on market was 45 (down from 53 in September).
